LAURA TROTT IS AWARDED THE LONDON 2012 INSPIRATION AWARD AT ANNUAL SPORTS AWARDS.

On Tuesday 14th May 2013 at Hertford Regional College in Turnford the borough’s sporting elite gathered for the 5th Annual Sports Awards.

The evening was packed with 10 awards including a coveted London 2012 Inspiration Award for Laura Trott OBE and Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie. Laura, who had travelled from the North West of England to attend the evening, was handed the award by Active Broxbourne Chairman Mark Neviile and guest Master of Ceremonies David Croft (SkyF1 commentator). David and Laura then had a 15 minute Q&A session which Laura later tweeted, ‘probs had one of my favourite Q & A s with @CroftyF1′

Other awards, on a spectacular evening of elite sporting achievement hosted by Hertford Regional College and sponsored by B3 Living, were as follows:

Coach of the Year awarded to Jennifer Page from Affinity Gymnastics based in Hoddesdon.
Primary School of the Year awarded to Burleigh Primary School.
Volunteer of the Year awarded to Lea Van der Niet of Herts Young Mariners Base.
Disability Coach of the Year jointly awarded to Janet Warrington of Hoddesdon SC and Peter Stannard of Boccia.
P.E. Teacher / Co-ordinator of the Year awarded to Tara Haddock of the John Warner School.
Secondary School of the Year awarded to The John Warner School.
Club of the Year awarded to Hoddesdon Swimming Club.
Disability Sports Performer of the Year awarded to Grace Harvey of Hoddesdon Swimming Club.
Service to Sport was awarded to Jim McCubbine on behalf of winner Derek Henley.
Young Sports Performer of the Year awarded to Maureen Ball of Turnford Netball on behalf of Ellie Newman who felt ill on the way to the awards and was unable to attend.
